  • Control canvas
    This is per section – each section has its own control canvas area. 1. Add a new control 1.1. Control label: The field name that will display on the application 1.2. Control type: A dropdown with all the control types. 1.3. Field name: Sort one word keyword to describe the function of this control. 2. Edit a control In the ‘Selected Control Details’ panel the control label & control type can be edited. 3. Delete a control Select the delete button in the control to remove the control from the section.
  • Create a new template
    Select ‘New Template’ Add the template details and select 'Create': 1. Template Name: This is the form name and will appear on the app and dashboard 2. Template Group Name (Optional): Should the user have more than one template on a project, they can be grouped together on the device by adding a group name. 3. Allow Force Submit: Allows the field user to submit a form even if all the required fields have not been captured. 4. Delete the form from the phone on successful upload: Deleted the form from the device once all the data has been uploaded to the server. The screen will be redirected to the newly created template.
  • Copy template
    A template can be copied/ cloned to another application. Select the application in a dropdown list to copy toe and add a new template name. All controls and settings will be duplicated to the new template.
  • Saving a template
    Select the ‘Save’ button top left of the template The version number, last edited date/ time and edit by will update on the application list view
  • Selected control details panel
    1. Control Label Control label/ field name that will display on the application 2. Change Control Type Allows the user to change the currently selected control type 3. Value Type - Integer - Text - Decimal - Email 4. Required Require that the question contain a value before the form can be submitted. 5. Hidden Creates a field in your feature layer that is not displayed on the form. 6. Field Name Short one keyword to describe the function of this control 7. Control Hint A question mark will display next to the control label on the application to add more information regarding this field. 8. Placeholder Text A guided text example of what data is expected from the user to capture in the field. 9. Default Values Most question types allow you to define a default answer that is automatically used when the form is loaded. 10. Update the default value of this control with last inherited value of the previous capture form? This will update the control value with the captured value of the last captured form. Newly created forms will have the default value set. 11. Formula 12. Disabled If checked, the control field will not be editable on the application. 13. Is display of this control dependant on a previous answer (Visibility binding) 13.1. Visibility Binding Control: Select the control to bind the value to 13.2. Visibility Binding Value: Specify a value to bind to when the control should be shown 13.3. Visibility Inverted: To reverse the visibility binding - if checked the control will be hidden if value matches the visibility binding value.
  • Control types
    1. Barcode Scans a bar code or QR code. 2. Date picker Date provides a calendar to select a date. You can set a default answer for this question as either a specified date or the date of submission for the form. 3. Dropdown A dropdown provides a list of potential answers from which the user selects one; you can set one as the default on the Selected Control Details tab. An “App users can add lookups" check box on the Lookup Details dialog allows the user to add an additional choice not on the list. The search box will allow the user to enter text in the field that limits the list to only answers that contain that text. This ideal for a longer list of choices. Dropdown questions have a “Visibility binding” rule functionality in the Advanced Settings on the Selected Control Details section on the right. Expand this section and set a visibility rule for any question that comes before it – select the visibility control & the visibility value. 4. Geotagged Photo A photo associated with a geographic position 5. Label Labels can be added to a form to categorize them in a simple, visual way. Labels can not be edited in the app, only on the Designer. 6. Location Collects a given GPS coordinate. This defaults to current location. 7. Long Text Multiline text provides the user with a large text box that wraps text to a new line as it's typed. It also accepts carriage returns. This question type is ideal for long-form answers. 8. Map Marker Map marker provides a map interface for the user to specify a location point 9. Multiple Select A dropdown provides a list of potential answers from which the user selects multiple; you can set one as the default on the Selected Control Details tab. An “App users can add lookups" check box on the Lookup Details dialog allows the user to add an additional choice not on the list. A visibility binding cannot be added to a multiple select control. 10. Photo An image either taken with the device camera or uploaded from the device gallery. 11. Short Text Provides the user with a single text box. If the text exceeds the size of the text box, it remains the same size and scrolls horizontally without line breaks. This is ideal for short answers. 12. Signature Signature provides a free drawing field to provide a signature. This signature will be saved as an image and added to the form as an attachment. 13. Time Allows the user to add the current date and time by selecting the NOW button on the application. 14. Voicenote Records an audio clip in the field app. 15. Yes/ No Toggle Used for simple yes / no questions

Advanced settings o Section name: Short one-word keyword (e.g., FirstSection) to describe this section. o Visibility binding section o Visibility binding value: Specify the value to bind to when the control should be shown o Visibility binding inverted
  • Create an application
    Select the ‘New Application’ button Add an application name – this is used to authenticate the application and must be unique. Select ‘Create’. The new application will be added to the application list of your Designer.

    If a template is deleted, all the data will be removed from the and it will not display on the application.

  • How to create a mail merge report
    Select "Add report" Select the application and form to link the report to and give the report a name. Select "Create" Report will be added in the application list Select the report to start configuring your report Report Name The report name can be edited View Sample Report Run a test to view a sample of how this report will look like using real data. Download Default Report Download the document that contains all of the fields that is in your form template. You can copy and paste these fields into your word document or use and modify the existing one. On downloading a report, these fields will then be replaced by your actual data as it is captured on the device. Personalise Your Report Upload a custom/ personalised template. Download a default report and edit RangeStart/ RangeEnd For all Multiple sections a range is identified by including its fields inside the RangeStart / RangeEnd tags: RangeStart i.e. {MERGEFIELD RangeStart:merge_field_code_here} RangeEnd i.e. {MERGEFIELD RangeEnd:merge_field_code_here} Conditional Mail Merge Conditional syntax says that: if some condition is applicable/met, then do something. New incoming forms can be configured to automatically generate reports as the forms are submitted from the phone to the dashboard.
